What Is Accreditation?

In the late 80s, Northaven Co-operative Preschool became one of the first preschools in the Dallas area to be accredited by the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC).

Early childhood programs accredited by the NAEYC have voluntarily undergone a comprehensive process involving an extensive internal self-study, substantial documentation of administrative and classroom policies and procedures, and a multi-day visit by an external NAEYC professional. Programs are accredited for a five-year period.

NAEYC-Accredited for Over 35 Years

Northaven Co-operative Preschool has continuously achieved NAEYC accreditation beginning in 1986. In 2021, we were proud to have met the most recent set of NAEYC standards, thereby earning a new five-year term of accreditation. In its detailed decision report, NAEYC commended our program’s outstanding effort in seeking accreditation. Not only did we pass all required criteria and meet all candidacy requirements, we also earned commendation based on our extraordinary scores.
