In keeping with our mission to embrace all cultures and traditions, we learned about the Jewish Holiday of Passover. Our Co-op parent read stories and shared the traditions of the Passover Seder with the class. We enjoyed tasting the delicious Charoset and the Matzah. We learned that matzah is made of flour and water and must be baked for under 18 minutes to make sure it does not leaven. Following Passover customs, the head of the household may hide the afikoman (matzo) for the children to find, and it is eaten to finish the Seder meal. Our class looked for the afikoman that was hidden in our classroom. We learned a Hebrew song led by our student’s joyful voice.
