Today, the 4’s & 5’s class listened to the story of Pumpkin Jack by Will Hubbell. After the story, we gathered around our pumpkin to discuss its parts and decide if we wanted to carve a scary jack-o-lantern or a funny one. We took a vote and scary won the day. Our pumpkin weighed 10 pounds and we observed that its stem was twisted and green. The circumference was 32 inches. The inside of our pumpkin was filled with pulp and seeds. Our Co-op parent drew the face so we could use our pumpkin tools to carve. We added a candle and enjoyed the glow. Finally, we planted our seeds, and we will watch for new sprouts in the weeks ahead.
