Our parents are always welcome in the classroom. Today, Dr. Mary McKeown visited the 4’s & 5’s class to share her instrument, the flute. The children asked very good questions. We learned how the instrument is constructed (many materials can be used, but Dr. Mary’s is made of silver and gold). The flute is a wind instrument that can be played slowly or fast and it plays the very high notes in the orchestra. We listened to Twinkle, Twinkle Little Star and a bit of Peter and the Wolf. The flute portion is meant to make the sounds of birds. Dr. McKeown shared that she practices two hours a day and plays in regional orchestras. Thank you for sharing your gift of music.
