Dinosaurs are a favorite subject for young students. Our imaginations were engaged by listening to Bernard Most’s books Whatever Happened to the Dinosaurs? and If the Dinosaurs Came Back. Music and movement time had us roaring, stomping and swinging our tails to the Dinosaur Rap. Our science table gave us an opportunity to look at bones and fossils. Our process art activity followed the big book Dinosaurs, Dinosaurs by Byron Barton. We used oil pastels to paint our choice of dinosaurs cut-outs to display in our school.
We also learned about volcanoes this week: Gail Gibbon’s book Volcanos provided us with so many facts about the different types of volcanoes. We continued our look at volcanos by erupting a volcano in our classroom.
