What a celebration today at Northaven Co-operative Preschool. The older students learned about St. Lucia’s Day. In Sweden, a young girl, usually the oldest daughter, dresses in a long white robe tied with a red sash and places a crown of evergreens on her head. It is her task to serve coffee and cinnamon buns twisted into different shapes. The boys wear cone-shaped hats decorated with stars. We dressed up in the traditional clothing and enjoyed our cinnamon buns together.
Baking cookies and drinking hot chocolate in our pjs was just the beginning of this fun day throughout the Co-op. Wishing and wishing for a snowy day, it was here. Squeals of laughter and catching flakes on the playground – thanks to Ms. Jen’s snow machine – gave us all that priceless moment of “awe.”
