Decorating gingerbread houses

Gingerbread houses are built before Christmas and Easter. The tradition is believed to be of German origin and related to the fairy tale of Hansel and Gretel. Ms. Lee prepared the houses, and the oldest classes spent the morning decorating the houses with the candies their parents provided. The children had the opportunity to nibble on the delicious sweets, just like Hansel and Gretel, before packaging their houses to take home.
