We learned about the role of the scarecrow in the fields, and we decided we needed to make our own scarecrow to keep watch over our pumpkin patch. We wore gloves to protect our hands from the prickly hay while we stuffed the overalls, shirt, head, and hat. We wanted him to be a kind scarecrow, so we chose blue button eyes, a triangle nose and added a big smiling mouth.
