The world’s best applesauce

Cooking in the classroom is a fun way to learn about what food is good for our bodies, how to use cooking tools safely, build math and science skills, how to follow a recipe, gather ingredients, explore new textures and work together.

Ms. Lee’s and Ms. Vicki’s class cored and chopped apples to make applesauce. While the apples were cooking, the children conducted a sink or float experiment, using the cores, the seeds and the stems. Upon removing the skin of one apple, the students used it to measure themselves.

We all enjoyed tasting the applesauce and agreed it was the best applesauce ever!
